Project Description

■ Overview

Industry: Onigiri Specialty Shop

Logo Type: Brush Calligraphy + English Typography + Seal (Tensho-style stamp)

Brand Image: Japanese Modern, Clean, Approachable, International

■ Concept

The name “MiKADO” is derived from the idea of

“three corners” — representing the triangular shape of onigiri.

In the brush lettering, rather than focusing solely on boldness,

we emphasized a sense of openness and balance through

light, flowing strokes and intentional use of negative space.

The subtle irregularities in the lines reflect the warmth of craftsmanship,

expressing the idea of handcrafted rice balls made with care.

By combining the English typography “MiKADO,”

the design becomes more accessible to an international audience,

while maintaining a clean and memorable identity.

The red seal element is designed based on the kanji for

“triangle (三角)”, reinterpreted as a traditional seal mark,

visually reinforcing the core concept of the brand.
