Recently, people from abroad are increasingly visiting Japan.
Japanese traditional food culture has been transmitted abroad and Japanese food has been by people all around the world.
Among them, Japan’s kaiseki (traditional Japanese multi-course meal) and other traditional Japanese cuisine are considered to be high class cuisine and they are receiving attentions from celebrities abroad.
Here, we would like to introduce the example of logo designing for kaiseki/Japanese-style restaurant.

- Design shall express “懐石 蛍 (KAISEKI HOTARU)” with both kanji and alphabets.
- Design shall be associated with the glimmer of fireflies
- Design shall be simple but with Japanese atmosphere
Japanese Kanji Design
By designing “懐石(KAISEKI)” in calligraphic hand design, we gave it a high class feeling.
We gave an abstract feeling to “蛍(HOTARU)” in order to express the image of flying fireflies and their trace of light.
We used roundish characters in order to express the warm light of fireflies’ light while giving it speedy feeling.
Logo Design
Using circles as a base, we expressed the light of fireflies. We created a simple, familiar design without using complicated decorations.
